Chojnacki / Miguła Contemplations
20/15 zł

Chojnacki / Miguła Contemplations - projekt dwóch młodych muzyków wrocławskiego środowiska jazzowego: Jana Chojnackiego (trąbka) i Filipa Miguły (fortepian).

Kjetil Mulelid Trio
20/15 zł

Kjetil A Mulelid - piano

Bjørn Marius Hegge - double bass

Andreas Skaar Winther - drums

The Kjetil Mulelid Trio released their debut album “Not Nearly Enough To Buy A House" in late 2017 on Norway's prestigious Rune Grammofon label, with its reputation for hand picking some of the best experimental electronic, jazz and improvised music from Scandinavia. Its artists have been heavily featured in magazines such as ‘The Wire’ and ‘Plan B’. Indeed, this piano trio consists of some of Norway's most exciting young jazz musicians, whose members are heavily involved in projects such as Norwegian Grammy winners ‘Hegge’ and Grammy nominees ‘Megalodon Collective,’ among other projects stemming from creative milieu in the Jazz Department of the Trondheim Conservatory of Music.

Here though, the focus is pared back to the classic acoustic piano trio featuring, predominantly, Mulelid’s beguiling compositions expertly balancing energetic, rhythmically complex and harmonically rich music with beautiful evocative melodies. While the trio incorporates that sense of calm, unhurried yet constantly unfolding sound world which is distinctively Scandinavian, Mulelid, in concert with bassist Bjørn Marius Hegge and drummer Andreas Winther, effortlessly conjure additional layers, tones and textures, based upon group improvisations, and informed, in large part, by each others diverse musical experiences.

Silvan Joray Trio
20/15 zł

Silvan Joray (guitar/composition)
Nadav Erlich (doublebass)
Josep Cordobés (drums)

Take three young jazz musicians, heaps of concentrated musicality, boundless passion and a pinch of humour; all which contribute to make the melodic jazz of the Silvan Joray Trio. On one side, there is a well-balanced band that harmonizes wonderfully with one another, and on the other, the catchy and imaginative compositions of the bandleader. The Trio entices the listener with verve and vitality, transporting them on a musical journey filled with moments of playful interaction, dreamy melodies and quick-flying rhythms. „The extraordinarily talented guitarist Silvan Joray has thoroughly absorbed the tradition and develops his own way of playing jazz out of it. He never stops to thrill me with his deep understanding of improvisation. His solos are very mellow and casual and he is telling stories that one wants to follow. His trio is a well-rehearsed sounding body that lives from consistent interaction and collective joy about creation. Recommended listening!“ Wolfgang Muthspiel, October 2017

HLK Trio
20/15 zł

Richard Kass - perkusja, Ant Law - gitara, Rich Harrold - fortepian

Trio HLK is the union of three distinct, forward thinking musical personalities. Drum virtuoso Richard Kass is a powerful, polyrhythmic engine whose multi-limbic facility affords him a wealth of textures and multiple layers of expression; he executes rhythms at more than one tempo simultaneously, which often draws comparison to electronica and computer generated music. Guitarist Ant Law plays a bespoke extended range electric guitar with 8 strings and a variety of effects; a wealth of influences from jazz, heavy metal and elsewhere shine through in his playing. Classical pianist and composer Rich Harrold was immersed in contemporary classical music from a young age; his approach encompasses recomposition and decomposition as much as pure composition itself. His harmonic realm isthe border between tonality and atonality, and there is a strong sense of rhythmic and melodic development throughout his writing. A belief in the high art of improvisation and intrigue with the infinite art and science of rhythm is what brings H, L and K together.

Luca Sisera
20/15 zł

Luca Sisera - bass, composition, Michael Jaeger - tenor saxophone, Maurus Twerenbold - trombone, Yves Theiler - piano, Michi Stulz - drums

With their new album Starlex Complex, Luca Sisera Roofer masterfully continue their journey over the hurdles and chasms of contemporary jazz. Starlex Complex follows their critically acclaimed debut album Prospect (Leo Records, 2015) and the live album Moscow Files (Leo Records, 2017). This new work, released on Nils Wogram's label nWog Records, contains nine compositions, including a three-part minisuite. These open up a musical spectrum in which the ostensibly opposite poles of structure and freedom ethereally imbue each other and blend as a distinctive band sound. Creative Swiss bassist Luca Sisera is a musician considered one of the outstanding instrumentalists on the European scene. As an accomplished sideman, he playfully comes to grips with even the most demanding of jobs across the entire jazz genre, as well as interdisciplinary projects. In 2013, he founded Roofer as his own quintet. Michael Jaeger (saxophone), Maurus Twerenbold (trombone), Yves Theiler (piano) and Michi Stulz (drums) are major musicians from the relatively young Swiss jazz scene. They handle the sometimes highly complex compositions very freely and thus realise their band leader's vision in a congenial way. It is no accident that Sisera named his band Roofer. So-called "roofers" are climbers who clamber up high structures without safety equipment, and ably cross the hurdles and chasms of urban roof and facade landscapes. Sisera is not one of these extreme athletes, but an extremely agile musician. The qualities with which roofers put their passion into practice characterise not only his compositions, but also his fellow musicians: love of adventure, willingness to take risks, sophisticated techniques, know-how and experience. Sisera's music is refined. It has a challenging edginess without rigidifying in lifeless formulae. Positive restlessness and well-placed contrasts keep it energised.

First Circle
20/15 zł

„First Circle“ , consisting of Victor Fox, Roger Kintopf and Felix Ambach, plays together as a collective band since 2014. Already at a young age, the musicians got to know each other and quickly discovered the accordance of their musical influences and their idea of making music. Inspiring each other, they have always been looking for something new - Something unknown - . It was evident, that the three musicians neither want to play in an already familiar formation, nor conventional modern jazz. In this instrumentation without a harmony instrument, they foreground improvisation and interaction of their music and thus try to follow previously unexplored paths. In their program, consisting of their own compositions, as well as free improvisations, they deepen the possibilities of interaction as much as possible while their characteristic band sound comes to fruition. In 2015 they’ve been awarded for their outstanding compositions by the „Union of German Jazz-Musicians“. After their debut album „conversations with the unknown“, First Circle presents their new album „GLÄÜÖ“, which was recorded at the Kammermusiksaal Deutschlandfunk Cologne, and which has been released at UNIT Record in June 2017.
