„Songstress Niki Vörös is not one of the many young singers who, having finished at the jazz faculty, sell out immediately for understandable financial reasons. She is a true jazz singer, the real thing, who is capable of turning almost any material into high quality jazz.
Her slightly smoky voice fits the tradition, she improvises with startling originality but with due restraint. Her debut album is a knock-out.
Since then she’s had the audience spellbound with local backing at London’s legendary 606 Club. Niki sings from the heart and is on the same wavelength with her musicians who are László Vörös on piano, Tibor Csuhaj-Barna on double bass and György Jeszenszky on drums.”(Péter Pallai )
Niki graduated from the Jazz Department of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 2010. She founded her band with her brother Laszlo in 2005, which has been performing regularly at Hungarian jazz clubs and festivals ever since. The band's sound is determined by Niki’s characteristic, individual voice and is perfectly complemented by Laszlo’s innovative and expressive piano playing. The performance is accompanied perfectly by the rhythm section consisting of Csuhaj-Barna Tibor on double bass and the versatile, Hungary’s most popular jazz drummer Jeszenszky György.
Niki’s debut album „Ask Yourself Why” appeared in the summer of 2012, does a Jazzy take on French composer Michel Legrand’s songs.
